Senior Sales Director

We are looking for a professional and well-spoken sales professional who is experienced working in a fast paced environment, overseeing a team of Business Development Managers, comfortable picking up the phone, and knows how to close!

What you will be doing:

As the Senior Sales Director, you will manage a group of Business Development Managers, as well as be responsible for an individual sales quota. The role would be 50/50. You will be selling our customized suite of digital and print marketing solutions to the hospitality and event industry in a dedicated region of the United States, as well as managing others with the same job function. Utilizing our extensive database, the internet, and other provided sources, you will have the opportunity to build your own book of business within a select territory.

New Business Development Management (50%)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Encourage, motivate, and assist each team member in achievement of their individual goal.
  • Plan/strategize departmental needs to foster growth of product portfolio and development of team.
  • Prepare and adhere to monthly/quarterly sales forecasts.
  • Work with New Business Development Managers to help improve qualifying/prospecting of new accounts. Closely monitor the number of accounts being landed/sold in geographic areas.
  • Train/develop team to enhance productivity, product knowledge, sales acumen, and overall customer experience.
  • Develop team knowledge/sales techniques through best-practice sharing and training opportunities.
  • Identify/understand competition in the market and work with team to develop sales tactics to overcome these challenges.

New Business Development Role (50%)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for sales within the Hawthorn Creative portfolio tailored exclusively to the hospitality industry.
  • Demonstrate selling skills and product knowledge to give effective presentation of Hawthorn products and services.
  • Identify and solicit new and renewal business within elite hospitality market for our complete suite of solutions.
  • Establish and maintain current client and potential client relationships.
  • Develop qualified leads and solicit sales through use of phone calls, direct mail, email, and face-to-face meetings.
  • Maintain accurate record of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, proposals, closed sales, and follow-up activities through the use of Salesforce.

What you need for this position:

  • 5+ years of proven and successful full life cycle sales experience
  • Experience managing a successful sales team
  • Experience selling digital marketing solutions or a background in hospitality marketing is a plus
  • Strong prospecting, funnel management, and forecasting skills
  • Ability to prospect and close on the phone
  • Sense of urgency to keep your pipeline full
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Appreciation for work-life balance in a team-focused setting
  • Ability to work in our Portsmouth office

What you will be doing:

As an Inside Sales Lead Generator you will play a key role in maximizing the attainment of the company’s new business and revenue goals. You will be a hunter, at the forefront of the sales cycle generating, as well as qualifying new leads that match our ideal client profile. Your goal as an inside lead generator is to set sales qualified appointments for Hawthorn’s Business Development Managers.

  • Meet or exceed monthly quota objectives for setting sales qualified appointments.
  • Maintain an accurate and current record of all activities and account information in Salesforce.com.
  • Research and identify top prospects, key contacts and effective messages for each account in order to schedule sales qualified appointments.
  • Immediately contact, qualify and nurture leads generated through your research activity.
  • Continuously expand your knowledge of Hawthorn’s products, marketing, industries and competition.
  • Work under general supervision, but a high degree of entrepreneurial spirit, initiative and creativity are required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Positive and professional attitude, with a growth mindset.
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications, Excel, and CRM tools such as Salesforce.com.
