Senior Sales Director

 

Hawthorn Creative is looking for a sales professional who is experienced working in a fast paced environment, comfortable picking up the phone, can develop comprehensive marketing strategies for clients, and knows how to close.

What you will be doing:

As a Senior Sales Director, you will be targeting hotels, property management companies, and destination marketing organizations.  You’ll discuss marketing needs and develop strategies to help prospects and clients achieve business goals through an effective print and digital marketing plan. Utilizing our extensive database, the internet, and other provided sources, you will have the opportunity to build your own book of business within a select territory.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  1. Responsible for sales within the Hawthorn Creative portfolio tailored exclusively to the hospitality industry.
  2. Demonstrate selling skills and product knowledge that provides a consultative approach for clients and prospects.
  3. Show an in-depth understanding of print and digital marketing tactics such as brand strategy, content marketing, SEO, SEM, retargeting, email marketing and more.
  4. Establish and maintain current client and potential client relationships.
  5. Develop qualified leads and solicit sales through use of phone calls, email, and face-to-face meetings. Some travel may be required.

 

What you need for this position:

  • 5+ years of proven and successful full life cycle sales experience
  • Experience selling digital marketing solutions and/or a background in hospitality marketing is a plus             
  • Strong prospecting, funnel management, and forecasting skills
  • Ability to prospect and close on the phone
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Appreciation for work-life balance in a team-focused setting
  • Ability to work in our Portsmouth office

Content & Social Media Manager

 

Do you have a way with written words – no, we don’t just mean that you can write; we mean, you make sentences sing, like Hallelujah Chorus sing? Do you have a passion for social media and what it takes to bring a brand to life one post at a time?

You’ll spend your days coming up with story ideas based on client objectives; crafting and refining both digital and print stories with writers; and posting, managing, and reporting on social media projects for clients. You’ll work directly with graphic designers to make it all look its best and generally shepherd content through to a finished project that would make your mom proud. Like hang-on-the-mantle proud.

The Content & Social Media Manager will both assist and manage several concurrent projects for clients, ranging from custom magazines and blog websites to full management of their social media channels. Almost all projects will focus on travel/destination content for our clients who are some of the biggest and most notable names in the hospitality industry (hotels and resorts, ski resorts, hotel brands, and beyond).

This is a per diem position of approx. 20 hours per week, with the potential to become full time in the future.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Develop story ideas and editorial lineups directly with clients to blend their marketing objectives with the kind of editorial chops that will keep leisure travelers engaged.
  • Report and write stories for custom magazines and destination blog sites.
  • Drive action through carefully crafted social media posts that blend great visuals with engaging copy.
  • Assign and content edit stories submitted by both internal writers and freelancers.
  • Work hand-in-hand with more senior Content Managers, graphic designers, and photo editors to make every story and post look its absolute best.
  • Develop edit calendars (both story and social media), produce email campaigns, review analytics, and manage blog posts for ongoing blog websites.
  • Review social media analytics and report back to clients on a monthly or quarterly basis with qualitative takeaways, metrics that help show their ROI, and any recommended changes in strategy.
  • Additional responsibilities may include loading content into websites, copy writing and execution of other projects, research projects, and fact checking.

 

What You Need for this Position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field.
  • Top-level journalistic-style writing skills.
  • An inside-and-out understanding of all the features and successful creative and marketing tactics for the following social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and Snapchat.
  • Passion for staying on the cutting edge of an ever-changing, dynamic Social Media marketing landscape.
  • An eye for top-notch visuals that draw users in while speaking to the client’s brand message.
  • A strong understanding of all social platforms’ native analytics tools.
  • An unwavering commitment to deadlines and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of SEO and keyword principles as it relates to writing for the web.
  • A plus: Experience using one or more social media management tools (ex: Buffer, Hootsuite, etc.).
  • A bigger plus: Working understanding of WordPress, keyword tools, and Adobe Creative Cloud (primarily InDesign).
  • Ability to work in our Portsmouth, NH office.
